Clubbing at Ibiza

Ibiza is known as the clubbing capital of the world, and the way people throng the numerous clubs here, dancing on groovy music, letting their hair flow down after a lazy day at the beach, is the testimony to the fact that indeed, Ibiza tops the list of clubbing destinations in the world.

Clubs at Ibiza have been witness to the most innovative revolutions in music for over three decades, beginning from the period of the hippies. From the Old skool Sunday nights at Es Paradise to the Global room at Pacha, which specializes in mixing R&B with hip hop, you will get a complete techno-cultural mix at clubs in Ibiza.

Amnesia, situated just on the exit of Ibiza town on the way to San Antonio is probably the best known and frequented clubs in the world. Built in 1970’s, the club is a fortress as we see it today, surrounded by the best party people in the world. This club is not dependant upon tourist turnout, because 90% of the locals come here as it was the first club, and is the most preferred among the people living on the island. The club, known for its warmth towards the locals made it a point to let anyone enter at dirt low prices on the eve of the new millennium, and the club was jam packed, with other clubs looking out for clients that night. People who had been there on that evening have memories of that night that would last a lifetime. The Coco Loco bar, which used to provide free drinks initially, is still the heart of this club, but without free drinks now, until you can prove that you don’t earn a single penny and work for 8 hours a day!

Club Eden, revamped in the year 2008 and equipped with two more music rooms and state of the art music systems, is the new star on the clubbing horizon of Ibiza. It boasts of a capacity of 5000+ people a night. They have several bars and several DJs working on the trot to service the needs of the high profile customers visiting this place- definitely worth a visit. Es paradis is another spectacular club on the San Antonio bay, and one of the few quality clubs that you can reach on foot from the town center. Built in the shape of a pyramid, it is a quite, yet entertaining place to be at, considering the kind of party that goes on around here.

As two of the most high-profile clubs of Ibiza, El Divino and Pacha are definitely worth a visit, if you have the moolah. A frequent haunt of the rich and the famous, both these clubs offer spectacular views of the sea and the private yacht areas, and offer classic selected alcoholic drinks at their numerous bars. As the preferred clubs of those with taste for excellence, these clubs definitely play the best music, have the best DJs and offer the best service in Ibiza. Specialties of such places lie in their special Saturday or Sunday evenings, wherein they invite some of the most well known DJs and stars to rock the show.

Ibiza flights

There are around 20 flight carriers that serve Ibiza airport, used by 90% of the people who enter or leave the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Formentera. Some of the more prominent flight carriers and their services include Aer Lingus, which has scheduled flights from Dublin, Easy Jet and British Airways, which have regular services from many parts of Europe, including London-Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham to Ibiza. You can get some great offers with Monarch Airlines, again providing two way services to and from Manchester, London and Birmingham. Air Berlin, Air Baltic and Air Europa have just begun their services recently, and offer huge discount during the peak summer months to make the most of the tourist season in order to break-even as early as possible.

The airport and flights to Ibiza primarily handle seasonal traffic, occurring mostly in the peak summer months from May-August, and accounts for almost 85% of all the passenger inflow, and therefore, some flights are of a seasonal character, operating mostly during the peak months. Yet, there are some other flights which operate all the year around; especially those to and from Madrid, Barcelona and other parts of Spain and surrounding regions.

First choice airlines operate from all major British airports, and due to a lack of awareness among tourists, is really good for last minute offers and discounts, especially during the summer season, when they operate more flights than normal. Flyglobespan.com is the only flight operators who operate between Scotland and Ibiza, with flights serviced to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Spanair.com, Vueling.com and Iberia.com are the best online operators if you want to fly into Ibiza from Spain, and are really good options if you are comfortable with online booking, because these carriers tend to give heavy discounts as compared to normal flight operators because of the ongoing competition among themselves. You might have to contend with unusual flight schedules and flights running late than scheduled if you indulge in online ticket booking; therefore it is strongly advised to take a look at the schedules before you make any online purchases.

During the peak season, you can board chartered flights after getting permission from the concerned authorities at the airport regarding the landing of your flight and timings etc. Thomas Cook Airways provides the best chartered flights services during the tourist months, and you can arrange from a luxury chartered plane, to a family package deal with Thomas Cook.

Overall, in an effort to promote its tourism industry, the Governing body of Ibiza has really made air travel and flights competitive and convenient, both of which are good news for tourists.

Ibiza playa

Playa D’en Bossa is a beach area in Ibiza, which is popularly known as Europe’s playground of young people because of the electrifying nightlife, great clubs and some really groovy bars and discos here. For those in search of a perfect combination of relaxing accommodation, great nightlife and adventurous water sports, Playa D’en Bossa is the place to be. There are good luxury and budget hotels in this area, and the Playa is accessible directly from the airport via a paved road that leads to the beach. The beach is a picturesque showcase of white sand perfectly blended with crystal clear ocean. The town center is a walking distance from the place and therefore, to have an accommodation at Playa D’en Bossa could be very convenient if you want to get the most of Ibiza in the minimum possible time frame.

Hotel Ibiza playa tops the list of hotels providing luxury at value for money rates. The hotel situated near the Figueretes beach and open into the beach through a pathway lined with tall palm tress, giving the pathway an exotic look. The hotel is a perfect combination or rest and restlessness and within the same area, you can find relaxing areas as well as areas full of fun, activity and entertainment. The hotel has tie-ups with local ferry services, which provide service to and from the nearby island of Formentera- known for its beautiful beaches and sunsets. The hotel also arranges special trips to the Hippy markets, held every Wednesday and Saturday at San Antonio and Es Cana. This is a fully air-conditioned hotel, with a lovely pool area; private paid parking, 24-hr help and service and well equipped rooms serviced by a warm staff. Being in the thick of things, and located just one kilometer from the town center, this is an ideal place to accommodate yourself if you want to do some hard clubbing at night after a long days’ sunbath at the beach.

The Sirenis Hotel, Club Goleta is also one of the better options for stay at the Playa. Situated right on the beach, the hotel had well furnished rooms, a great bar, a groovy club and spectacular service. Again, like the Playa Hotel, the Sirenis’ major selling point is its ideal location, right at the town center, which makes it a perfect place to stay.

No matter what your tastes are, no matter what your accommodation preferences are, Ibiza Playa is one place that has something for everyone.

Ibiza holiday
If beaches, sun, sand, ocean and beautiful people are what you are looking out for in your perfect holiday, then Ibiza is the place to be this summer! Ibiza, being one of the Balearic Islands, is the hub of tourist attention, especially during the peak summer months. The island is divided into three main cities- Ibiza Town, San Antonio and Santa Eulària des Riu.

You can get here by air through the numerous international flights that serve Ibiza, or by a boat or even a private yacht. While in the city, you can take a local tour using a bus or a taxi. You can even rent your own vehicles, but we strongly recommend you not to do so, because during the peak summer months, most of the drivers are under the influence of alcohol, and this leads to road rage and tussles, and even collisions at times.

Apart from the beautiful beaches such as Talmanca Beach, one can visit a lot of other interesting places at Ibiza, including the Hippy Markets, held on Wednesdays at the east coast and on Saturdays at San Carlos district. The Bar Anita is another revered place of San Carlos, and is known as the place where artists of the era of 1960s and 70s came to collect their fees and stopped by to have a drink. Atlantis, a secret cave, hidden from the rest of the world, can be an adventurous place to visit, especially if you have a local to guide you through the location. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, take a trip to old Ibiza Town, or just take a ferry ride to the nearby island of Formentera.

Famous for its nightlife, Ibiza will not disappoint you with so many bars offering “special daily drinks” all around the San Antonio area. The bars start to fill out after 7 in the evening, especially during the peak summer months, when the tourists start hitting these clubs after enjoying a sunbath throughout the day at the beach, and returning with mellow hearts after having witnessed the wonderful sunset. The West End area of San Antonio is known as the party place and the parties are on till the wee hours of the morning usually.

Best known clubs include Pacha, Space, El-Divino and Privilege, and once you hit any of these places, be rest assured that you are going to have a time of your lifetime. Apart from partying, drinking and dancing, you can indulge in water sports covering the whole gamut of adventure levels!

Accommodation Ibiza

Ibiza has various options to choose from when it comes to accommodation, and to narrow down on your search, you need to be clear about the kind of crowd you belong to. If you are the raucous types, typical football players who like to be up all night, partying over a mug of beer, then you need a place in San Antonio. If you are the peaceful type, who wants to just chill and relax on their perfect holiday, you might consider getting yourself a private villa on a beach.

There are more than 500 registered accommodation spots in Ibiza, yet if you prefer to stay in a hotel, there are some very good options you might want to consider. Before moving on to some of the best hotels in Ibiza, let me caution you that if you are planning to visit Ibiza in and around August, you need to get yourself your accommodation booked in advance due to the heavy tourist inflow during these times of the year.

If pure luxury is what you are looking at, then the Ibiza Gran Hotel is the best and the only five star option available here. Having a mammoth pool area, the hotel overlooks the sea and into the yacht basins, offering you an exclusive view, wherein you will also get glimpses of the old-Ibiza town. The hotel specializes in Mediterranean Sea food and also sports its own private casino, having a tastefully appointed bar and option to play numerous games such as roulette, poker and black jack- to name a few. Prices here vary greatly according to the season, in summers, prices range from 475 to 700 euro, whereas during the winters, they are slashed to about 1/3rd.

For the low budget traveler, hotel Maritimo, situated on the busy sea port, just 5 minutes away from the town center, is one of the good options available. Giving a grand sea side view, coupled with a bar, a 24-hour coffee shop and amazing terraces, the hotel offers one of the best service packages in Ibiza.

There are some other staying options at Ibiza including the Hotel Sol Ibiza, Sa Taraia and Fiesta Hotel Group. The Fiesta group is the father company to Ibiza’s largest chain of hotels and these hotels have competitively priced accommodation options all over Ibiza. They offer multi-district stay packages, wherein, you can just buy the package, get your rooms at various locations at Ibiza, on a single payment. It is more like advance booking.

On the whole, Ibiza offers some splendid accommodation option for every class of tourists- be it the wild types or the more sophisticated luxury travelers.
